Since natural gas is the cleanest fossil fuels, the demand of gas is expected to grow in the future. In the Netherlands the production of gas is not sufficient to cover the domestic consumption. Therefore most gas for the European market is imported from Russia. Political tensions make it risky to be depedent of one import partner. Therefore, a Liquid Natural Gas storage terminal is built in de harbour of Rotterdam to make import of gas fromall over the world possible. This is a project of Gate Terminal, which is a joint venture of Vopak and GasUnie.
During the seminar Jeroen Zanting, Plant Manager representing the companies Gasunie and Gate terminal, and Karin Kuipers, Operations Engineer at Gate terminal, will provide an overview of the challenges and techniques they face.
