Welcome to TBV Lugus

Welcome to your new studies at the University of Groningen! To help you prepare for the start of your studies, we would like to introduce you to TBV Lugus, the study association for Industrial Engineering and Management, Mechanical Engineering & Systems and Control.

Firstly, Lugus is a great place to meet new people and build your social network. During the Introduction Week, and especially the Introduction Weekend in Drouwen, you will have plenty of opportunities to meet your fellow students and get to know your LuGuides. LuGuides are experienced students who will help you find your way during your first year within IEM and Lugus. Throughout the academic year, we organize a broad range of social activities, from drinks and parties to trips and excursions including the Lugus Ski Trip. Whether you want to meet new people, try something new, or simply take a break from studying, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Secondly, Lugus is here to support you throughout your studies. We organize study support sessions for challenging courses, including tutoring and exam preparation sessions. You also have access to our database containing summaries and previous exams, which can be useful when preparing for your courses. During each exam period, we reserve study rooms specifically for IEM, Mechanical Engineering, and Systems and Control students. These rooms provide a place to study alongside your fellow students and prepare for your upcoming exams. We encourage you to make use of the resources Lugus provides and give yourself the best possible start to your studies.

Thirdly, Lugus offers opportunities to explore your future career. Through company visits, excursions, and career-oriented events, we introduce you to the many different possibilities available after your studies. You can meet companies from a wide range of industries and discover how IEM, Mechanical Engineering, and Systems and Control are applied in practice. Throughout the year, we organize activities such as in-house days, recruitment dinners, lunch lectures, and company excursions. These events provide an opportunity to gain insight into different careers, meet professionals, and start building your network.

Finally, the Lugus Lounge is the central meeting point of our association. Located at FBG 5614.0131, the Lounge is a place where you can drop by before, between, or after classes to meet other students, relax, or grab something to eat or drink. The Lugus board can also be found here, so it is the perfect place to stop by if you have a question, want to get involved, or simply want to say hello. Lugus members can enjoy free coffee, as well as affordable snacks and drinks.
