De Technische Bijbaan - Technical side jobs for technical students!

DTB is committed to creating interesting side jobs in the Northern Netherlands. There are well-regarded technical courses in Groningen and there are plenty of smart students around. To keep them in the north, DTB aim’s to show and connect students to interesting companies they can potentially work for after their studies. This is done by involving students during their studies in projects in the field’s of innovation, sustainability, optimization, and data.

Together with MAAK Techniek

DTB is part of the project and consultancy organization MAAK Techniek. Students from De Technische Bijbaan support MAAK's Maintenance Engineers in their assignments.  The collaboration gives students the opportunity to work with experienced Maintenance Engineers. Allowing students to learn a lot in a short time, so that they can start working independently. Students get the unique opportunity to have a look behind the scenes and gain relevant work experience.

But the knife cuts both ways. By giving technical students preparatory work, the Engineers can focus on the next steps. Making work more efficient and effective. We know from experience that this often leads to cost savings in the end.

Flexibility and communication

Working with students requires flexibility. From the company, from their clients and from the students. DTB believes that your study always comes first. As a result, the availability of a student can vary, in line with the pressure of their study workload. On the other hand, students are available for many to full-time periods. It's up to DTB to find a good balance here. They do this by allowing students from different studies and from different study years to work together.

But. Communication is key. Their main goal is to communicate clearly. This way, clients and students know where they stand. This is done by maintaining personal contact with all relevant individuals through calling, texting and visiting regularly.
