Retrospective: Beta Business Days 2017

The 7th and 8th of February was all about students, companies, careers and pinkness. Let's take a look back at this succesful event!

All students of the Faculty of Science and Engineering were invited to join the Beta Business Days 2017 that took place at MartiniPlaza. FrieslandCampina, Shell, TATA Steel, RTL, Microsoft and 44 other companies presented their possibilities through various activities interacting with the technical students.

The first day of the Beta Business Days kicked off with a speech on the future industry automation by Nell Watson. After the opening speech the presentations, workshops, cases and interviews started. Throughout the morning more and more companies trickled in to set up their expo stand. At twelve o'clock the Business Expo was up and running. Students were able to swing by more than 20 company stands and grab a free lunch. At 3 o’clock the start-up competition started, 4 innovative start-ups pitched their ideas to the audience and a qualified jury. The best start-up (Dubistr) won 2 Flinc advisory sessions and an investment of 1000 euros. After the start-up competition and all other simultaneous activities the social had begun with life music, free drinks and delicious snacks.

Day two started with free breakfast and a speech from Thomas Rulmont, manager at the Google cloud computing data center in Eemshaven. After Thomas' speech the business presentations, cases, interviews, workshops and business expo started again. At 3 o'clock the conference started with the Managing Director of Miele NL and the CEOs of FrieslandCampina and Nedap. During the conference the executives shared their perspectives and expectations in the automated future industry. The conference was followed up with another social including a life jazz band.

As the Beta Business Days exists 30 years, the board had organized an anniversary party in Huize Maas, every student whom attended the Beta Business Days 2017 was invited to enjoy free unlimited beverages at this marvelous party!
